Cheap is a strategy, not a bargain
Buying the cheapest challenge you can find is a reasonable move — for one specific purpose: finding out whether you can pass an evaluation at all, before committing several hundred dollars to a $100,000 attempt. Used that way, a $49 account is the least expensive honest experiment available in this industry.
It is a bad move for anything else. The firms at the top of this table by price are, with one exception, the firms at the bottom of our overall ranking — younger, offshore, with lower splits and slower payouts. You are not finding a bargain; you are accepting counterparty risk in exchange for a discount.
What the low price does not include
- The reset. Most traders fail a first attempt. A $49 challenge with a $40 reset is a $89 challenge.
- The spread. Cheaper firms are more often CFD-based, where wider spreads quietly transfer the discount back.
- The payout wait. Several of the cheapest firms run 14-day cycles.
- The split. A 75% split on a cheap account costs you more over a year than the fee ever saved.
How to actually save money
Buy the smallest account at a firm you would be happy to trade at $100,000, rather than the cheapest account anywhere. You are testing the firm as much as your strategy, and there is no point testing a firm you would not scale with.

Risk warning
Trading leveraged crypto derivatives carries a high risk of loss. Challenge fees are generally non-refundable and most participants never reach a payout. Nothing on this site is financial advice, and we are not a licensed adviser, broker or prop firm.
Frequently asked questions
What is the cheapest crypto prop firm challenge?
Entry tiers start around $49 for the smallest accounts. For a $100,000 account, expect $199 to $359 at list price, with discount codes of 10–30% running near-permanently.
Are cheap prop firm challenges worth it?
As a test of whether you can pass an evaluation, yes. As a place to build trading income, usually not — the cheapest firms in this category tend to be the youngest, with the lowest splits and the slowest payouts.
Do prop firms refund the challenge fee?
Some refund it with your first payout if you pass. Most do not refund it at all if you fail. Treat the fee as spent the moment you pay it.
